The Ultimate University Packing List

Packing, packing, packing. If you don’t like packing for a week away then you’re going to hate packing for 42 weeks. But don’t worry, I’ve compiled a list full of the University packing essentials, if you take these things (or at least some of) you’ll be just about fine! Forget the packing stress, just shove everything in bags and boxes and away you go.

University is a bit like going on holiday so remember your passport, you’ve not got to go through boarder control, but you do have to prove who you are when you collect your keys.

The one thing I have to say about this is: take plenty of toilet roll! If you all move in with a 20 pack of toilet roll from Costco – that’s fine!! You’ll get through it so quickly, especially if freshers pre-drinking takes a turn and the next minute you’re mummifying the weakest prink.

Kitchen Items

This is a difficult one, if you know who you’re moving in with it’s made so much easier. You’ll be able to discuss who is taking what appliances and share them (if you don’t mind doing so) which will save you a lot of money and space in the kitchen! If you don’t then it is best to buy the essentials that you think you’ll definitely want/need and leave things that you can wait and buy as a flat perhaps such as the toaster and kettle until you move in and can discuss things, chances are someone else will bring them with them too. It’s awkward finding space to stores 5 toasters, but it’s so handy to have 5 lots of tea towels and fairy liquid to keep you going for a while!!

  • Bowls and Plates
  • Mugs

Lastly, take yourself. Don’t pretend to be somebody you’re not while at University. Don’t worry and stress about making friends, if you just be yourself you’ll make friends effortlessly, everybody is in the same boat.
