Each month brings new beginnings and new opportunities as well as more Monday mornings and periods. A joyous week of period pains, hormones, cravings, mood swings… the lot, oh the perks of being female!
Ladies, when it’s that time of the month and you just want to hibernate, Bettybox is your one. Your go-to subscription box full of period essentials and pick-me-up goodies to make you slay even on your period.
The ultimate aim of Bettybox is to empower young women to take control of their period, while enjoying some amazing treats! So when you’re down in the dumps about being on your period, not only can you sit and binge watch Netflix with some chocolate, but Bettybox is also there as a pick-me-up, making your period much more bearable for only £12.99 a month.
Bettybox attempts to act like an older sister and a comfort mechanism to get you through any difficulties during your time of the month. Not only are you fully equipped (and when I say fully, I mean FULLY you’ll be prepared for the whole month!) with sanitary towels or tampons (or both). All period products are branded and you can select your brand preferences while signing up for the subscription.
Once you subscribe to Bettybox, you simply choose the correct period essentials and absorbency rate for you, select a date you’d like the box to be delivered each month so that it coincides with your period and wait on your first box arriving! The box is split into four sections: For Now, For Night, For Later and For You.
I was kindly sent the Summer Holiday edition (July 2018) to try out and I love it! The ‘For You’ box that I was sent contained the following products:
- Mango Sorbet Hand Cream (RRP. £3.99)
- Candy Kittens Sour Watermelon Sweets (RRP. £1.00)
- Technic Get Gorgeous Highlighter (RRP. £4.50)
- Beauty Junky Make-Up Sponge (RRP. £4.00)
- Vitamasques Sheet Face Mask (RRP. £3.99)
- Jelly Pong Pong Lip Scrub (RRP. £15.00)
- We Are Tea Green Tea (RRP. Per box £2.99)
We can all do the maths; these products alone add up to a lot more than the £12.99 you’re paying for the subscription – well worth it!
Let alone the amount of different period pads I was sent including: 12x Day pads, 5x night pads and 5x liners.
Unfortunately, there’s still a negative stigma around periods, mostly for the younger generations who are adapting to the idea of having monthly cycles. The only way to break down this stigma, or any stigma is by talking about it and accepting that periods are natural and part of the human bodily function. This is where Betty is hoping to make periods seem less daunting by positively reinforcing them through feel-good products. As well as educating young girls on their bodies, Bettyboxes are full knowledge and know-how information about periods and the website is also easily accessible and full of advice.
