Listen Up Ladies | Bettybox Collaboration

Each month brings new beginnings and new opportunities as well as more Monday mornings and periods. A joyous week of period pains, hormones, cravings, mood swings… the lot, oh the perks of being female!

Ladies, when it’s that time of the month and you just want to hibernate, Bettybox is your one. Your go-to subscription box full of period essentials and pick-me-up goodies to make you slay even on your period.

The ultimate aim of Bettybox is to empower young women to take control of their period, while enjoying some amazing treats! So when you’re down in the dumps about being on your period, not only can you sit and binge watch Netflix with some chocolate, but Bettybox is also there as a pick-me-up, making your period much more bearable for only £12.99 a month.

Why Bettybox?

Bettybox attempts to act like an older sister and a comfort mechanism to get you through any difficulties during your time of the month. Not only are you fully equipped (and when I say fully, I mean FULLY you’ll be prepared for the whole month!) with sanitary towels or tampons (or both). All period products are branded and you can select your brand preferences while signing up for the subscription.

Once you subscribe to Bettybox, you simply choose the correct period essentials and absorbency rate for you, select a date you’d like the box to be delivered each month so that it coincides with your period and wait on your first box arriving! The box is split into four sections: For Now, For Night, For Later and For You.

I was kindly sent the Summer Holiday edition (July 2018) to try out and I love it! The ‘For You’ box that I was sent contained the following products:

  • Mango Sorbet Hand Cream (RRP. £3.99)
  • Candy Kittens Sour Watermelon Sweets (RRP. £1.00)
  • Technic Get Gorgeous Highlighter (RRP. £4.50)
  • Beauty Junky Make-Up Sponge (RRP. £4.00)
  • Vitamasques Sheet Face Mask (RRP. £3.99)
  • Jelly Pong Pong Lip Scrub (RRP. £15.00)
  • We Are Tea Green Tea (RRP. Per box £2.99)

We can all do the maths; these products alone add up to a lot more than the £12.99 you’re paying for the subscription – well worth it!

Let alone the amount of different period pads I was sent including: 12x Day pads, 5x night pads and 5x liners.

Unfortunately, there’s still a negative stigma around periods, mostly for the younger generations who are adapting to the idea of having monthly cycles. The only way to break down this stigma, or any stigma is by talking about it and accepting that periods are natural and part of the human bodily function. This is where Betty is hoping to make periods seem less daunting by positively reinforcing them through feel-good products. As well as educating young girls on their bodies, Bettyboxes are full knowledge and know-how information about periods and the website is also easily accessible and full of advice.

  1. What a great idea for a subscription box! The colours are so fun and vibrant! I love the packaging and the way the box has been set up. I think it’s really clever the way they’ve broken it up into four sections. I’d definitely be willing to give this subscription box a try! Thanks for sharing!

Oh I love the idea of this box! My mood is all over the place during my time of the month haha so something like this would be a great little pick me up. Green tea is also my go to when I’m feeling bloated, so I love this! Thanks for sharing! X

Sounds like it’d be perfect! I’ve never actually tried green tea before so i’m excited to try this one!!

This was a really good review! I’ve heard about this subscription service before but I never really know what it was before. It’s so true that the idea of periods is still kinda gross and not really spoken about even between girls but why not? I love telling my guy best mate about mine just because it grosses him out. Do you know if all the different month boxes are the same or if you can choose to have specific things each month?

    1. admin says:

Hahaha so true! I believe you can chose which period supplies you want ie. pads or tampons and the brand but I think the ‘For You’ box comes as a surprise each month x

  5. I’ve seen few of these going around recently and I really love the idea of them! I struggle a hell of a lot on my monthly and this would be such a perfect way to cheer me up and I love the bright packaging too!

Definitely be a great way to deal with them, set up with all your supplies and then some added extras!

  6. I can’t believe how affordable this is considering how many lovely goodies you get, and you don’t even have to leave your house! I don’t get periods but if I did, I’d definitely be getting this box, especially when there’s sweets included x

Isn’t it?! Still find it ridiculous period essentials are so expensive, but I don’t mind paying it when you get some great goodies as well!

  7. I love Betty box so much! They’re such an amazing subscription box & I think they’d make a really nice gift for someone. Lovely post xx

    1. admin says:

      It would!!

  8. I love how there are so many different types of boxes out there. Love that Bettybox doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. Oooh, this is perfect for giving you what you need when it comes to periods. I wish educators did a better job of educating us about periods as a pre-teen… I kept on having the expectation that it’ll come every 28 days when in fact… It varies between different people, their eating habits, stress levels, and etc. Thanks for sharing! 🙂

Definitely! That’s what I love about it, it’s more than just a subscription box, it’s a place for advice too. Most companies just try to get their products sold and thats all, whereas Bettybox is actually trying to help too! x

I love this post and your openness, I feel like I’ve seen a lot on this recently and it’s great! I’m on a pill which means I don’t get periods often so this wouldn’t work for me but I’d totally be subscribing if I did! Thanks for sharing your experience!

It’s definitely something I’ve not seen posted about much before, so much credit to Bettybox for making something so that people can talk about periods in a positive way!

  10. julietlylillyrose says:

This box is so cool. I’ve seen other boxes like these before but I’ve never seen one that actually comes with pads and makeup and skincare! Great box!

    1. admin says:

      It’s incredible isn’t it?!

  11. This sounds like such a perfect box to have for the time of the month – and especially considering the price, that’s a lot you’re getting for just £12.99! Especially love the addition of the Green Tea – love drinking tea when I’m on mine! When I was younger, it took a little getting used to having monthly cycles and bit of personal research to learn more about what’s actually happening during my time of the month. That’s great that BettyBox includes information about periods because as you said, the only way to break down the negative stigma is by talking about it, definitely going to consider subscribing to this!

Also, unrelated note, but I love that when your site was loading, it has the box with the little boxes pulsing (for a lack of better word!) until it loaded!

    1. admin says:

Everyone’s raving about green tea while on their period, but i’ve never tried it! Definitely going to try it next time.
Thank you for your feedback on the loading boxes!!

  12. I haven’t heard of this subscription box before, but it’s such a cool idea! It’s awesome that it’s reasonably priced, too. Really enjoyed reading this!
