Five Small Changes To Make Cooking Easier

We all know that cooking at home can take time and effort, sometimes it can be challenging to get the motivation to cook, but it doesn’t need to be a stressful time. Have a look at these small things you can do to make cooking at home more comfortable.


Have A List

Try hanging a shopping list on your fridge and update it whenever you run out of anything. It could be as simple as milk, rice or pasta, but these are often forgotten and lead us to the takeaway menu. An excellent method is to have a whiteboard or dry ease that can be. Used again and again. This way you are minimising the number of times you forget something when you run to the store. You could even take a picture of the board to make it even easier!


Make Sure Your Pantry Is Well Stocked

You should always try to keep your pantry well stocked with the essentials such as staple ingredients like grains, spices, and oil. A well-stocked pantry makes cooking much more relaxed, so by having the staples on hand allows you to both experiment and follow recipes without having to go out and buy the ingredients each time. Good ideas to always have access to are olive oil, salt, red pepper flakes, canned things like lentils, beans and tomatoes, and your most-used carbs like rice, pasta and noodles.


Prep Makes Perfect

Although it can be hard to get into the habit, making a preparation plan when it comes to cooking will help you out loads. You should plan out a week’s worth of dinners so you can prepare and shop just the once. You don’t have to plan every meal to the letter, but planning just some of your meals ahead of time can help make cooking during the week quicker and simpler. This way, you also cut down your supermarket trip as when you go shopping, you’ll know exactly what you need to get, and you won’t need to make numerous trips to the grocery store during the week to top up. Have Good Food Storage

Think about Investing in some quality food containers to store your prepped veggies, meats, and grains. Proper food storage containers that are easy to clean, such as glass. Plastic holders are reasonable; however, they are known to warp easily, stain and hold onto smells. Storing prepped ingredients in either makes it easy to heat up, cook, and add extras to meals you’re cooking.


Look Into Cast Iron

Investing in an excellent cast-iron pan such as a hotpot dish means you can be convenient and cook whole meals in one container. Cast-iron pans and pots are great for general cooking and have a fantastic reputation of lasting a lifetime. If you have these two pots, you’re pretty set to tackle anything you want.
