4 Inexpensive Ways to Have Good Dental Hygiene | AD

Colgate toothpaste and colgate toothbrush in bathroom

Dental hygiene, we all know it’s essential… but often we get a bit too relaxed into a natural habit of replenishing products with the same products you’re used to using as opposed to searching for products that could improve your routine. New and improved products are regularly being released with better research and evidence of effectiveness. Therefore, it’s so important to do your research and look into changing your routine every few months.

It’s time to review your routine, here are some great ways to keep on top of good dental hygiene and a few recommended products to help.

1. Keep on top of regular dental care.

When in the routine of brushing your teeth twice a day, it’s so easy to forget the other aspects that come alongside good dental hygiene. Flossing, using mouthwash and attending regular dentist appointments.

Remembering to book regular check-ups at the dentist keeps your dental hygiene in the best possible form to ensure appropriate dental procedures can be conducted to support your dental hygiene process. Research from NHS Dental recorded that 21.8m adults were seen by an NHS Dentist in the 24-months up to 31 December 2019 which equates to only 49.6% of the adult population.

2. Have a good toothbrush.

It’s vital to have a good tool to ensure effective brushing. To ensure you have a good brush, it’s important to not be put off by the price of items. The more you pay for your toothbrush, the more likely it is going to work better and support your step towards having healthier dental hygiene.

A toothbrush I’ve recently been loving is the new Colgate 360 Floss – Tip Battery Powered Toothbrush. This has a dual action brush head with oscillating angled floss tip bristles for a deep and gentle interdental clean and a cheek and tongue cleaner. This multi-purpose toothbrush ensures you thoroughly brush and floss your teeth in one simple session.

Available to purchase in Morrisons and Waitrose.

3. Have equally as good toothpaste.

To support the use of an effective toothbrush, it’s worthy of having good toothpaste to compliment the cleaning process. You have to allow the tools to work together to ensure your process is effective. While there are hundreds of different toothpaste varieties available, it’s important to look for a brand that you know you can trust and the type of toothpaste you desire e.g. whitener, sensitive, antibacterial, repair or children’s. 4. Limit your sugar intake.

As sad as it is, limiting your sugar intake is a great way to ensure your teeth remain healthy and have less exposure to damage and rot. Cutting out on sugar entirely is not necessary (unless you’d prefer to). However, a simple reduction in sugar intake will ensure from that point onwards you’re less likely to cause additional damage to your teeth. This can be a small step in the right direction to having healthy teeth and also a healthier overall diet!
